Matthew Walters is the Owner, Lead Instructor and Senior CPTED Practitioner for Advantage Safety & Security Consulting, LLC. He is a veteran of over 34 years law enforcement experience. Matt is a Florida State Certified CPTED Practitioner (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design). He is a graduate of the Kansas City Missouri Metropolitan Police Academy (77th EOC) and was a founding instructor for the Western Missouri Regional Police Academy (now known as MCC - Blue River Public Safety Institute).

Matt has served our communities as an Officer and a Supervisor with expertise in Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Juvenile Investigations, Gang Investigations, Crime Prevention, DUI Task Force, SWAT Operations, Hostage Negotiations, Field Force, Critical Incident/Active Shooter Response, Youth Services and School Resource.

Matt served as a School Resource Officer for multiple schools in 4 public school districts and locally in Gainesville, Florida for the A.Q. Jones Center and then for Gainesville High School. Later, as a School Resource Sergeant, he supervised up to 20 SROs with the Gainesville, Florida Police Department.

Matt has been a Law Enforcement Instructor for over 30 years. He has presented Safety, Firearms and Tactics training courses to officers/deputies from numerous agencies as well as providing training presentations to community members/groups. He has trained hundreds of school district faculty and staff in Preparedness and Response to Critical Incidents. He has served as an Adjunct Faculty Member for three colleges in two states. (Florida & Missouri)
